What is Memoir?

Memoir is een privacy-first journaling app voor Apple devices. Mensen schrijven herinneringen op hun iPhone, iPad of Mac — versleuteld op het apparaat zelf, zodat niemand anders ze kan lezen.

Family members kunnen hier op het web meelezen wat hun loved ones publiek delen — zonder een Apple device te hoeven hebben. Geen account, geen download — gewoon deze pagina openen.

On their iPhone, iPad, or Mac, the leader writes encrypted memories — safe from everyone, including us.

They publish what they want

When ready, they sign and publish a memory to the public feed — everything else stays private on their device.

If your family member uses an Android phone or Windows PC — no problem. You can read this feed from any modern browser, no installation required.

The only thing you can't do on this site is write your own memories. To keep your own private journal, you'll need Memoir on iPhone, iPad, or Mac — it's where the encryption lives.

Common questions

Why can't I write memories on this site?

Privacy reasons — and by design. Memoir's encryption lives on the Apple device, not on a server. Your private entries are encrypted before they leave your phone. A web app can't replicate that guarantee, so we chose not to offer a web editor at all. Writing on web would mean trusting a server, which Memoir deliberately avoids.

If you want to write your own memories, download Memoir on iPhone, iPad, or Mac — that's where the real magic happens.

How do I join a family share?

Your family leader generates an invite link directly in the Memoir app (Settings → Family → Add member). They send it to you via any messaging app. Tap or click the link and you'll be guided through the short acceptance flow on this site.

Once accepted, you can follow their private posts in addition to the public feed — no Apple device required.

What if I lose access to the feed?

The public feed at /app/feed is always open — no credentials needed. If you were part of a private family share and need to reconnect, ask your family leader to send a fresh invite link from the Memoir app. Invite links can be regenerated at any time.
