Back to Memoir

Built for your inner life.
Engineered for your privacy.

Every feature in Memoir answers a single question: does this help you understand yourself better — without compromising what you share with no one?

Security & Encryption

AES-GCM-256 encryption

Every entry is encrypted with AES-GCM-256 before it touches storage. The encryption key is derived from your passphrase via PBKDF2 — a zero-knowledge architecture where the server never sees plaintext.

Privacy-preserving family sharing

Share specific memories with family without handing over your key. HKDF-from-hash key escrow creates a per-share derived key — your family sees what you share, nothing more.

CloudKit private database

Sync happens exclusively through your iCloud private database. Apple's servers store encrypted blobs they cannot read. No Memoir server ever receives your content.

Reflection & Insights

50-prompt reflection library

50 English and Dutch prompts rotate daily — from "What did you avoid today?" to "Wie ben je geworden deze week?" Designed to unlock genuine introspection, not surface journaling.

Year-in-Review insights

At year's end, Memoir surfaces your top tags, writing streaks, mood trend across 365 days, and an on-device word cloud — all computed locally, never transmitted.

Then & Now reflections

On this date last year, you wrote something. Memoir shows you exactly what — giving you a concrete view of how you've changed, grown, or stayed the same.

Knowledge & Search

Wikilinks + backlinks

Type [[Memory Title]] to link entries together. Backlinks are automatically tracked — your journal becomes a second brain, connected by meaning.

Memory Graph view

See the web of your thoughts as a force-directed graph. Pan, zoom, and tap any node to jump to that memory — a visual overview of how your ideas interconnect over time.

On-device semantic search

Search by meaning, not just keywords. Apple's NLEmbedding generates 512-dimensional embeddings on-device; cosine similarity finds entries conceptually related to your query — zero server calls.

Capture & Media

On-device audio transcription

Record a voice note and SFSpeechRecognizer transcribes it directly on your device. The audio file is encrypted with the rest of your journal — no cloud speech API ever processes your voice.

Graph filter overlay

Slice your Memory Graph by tags, date range, or search query. The overlay dims irrelevant nodes in real-time, letting you focus on a specific chapter of your life or a recurring theme.

Public leader feed

Chosen posts from Memoir leaders — marked explicitly public, cryptographically signed, visible on the landing page. Nothing private leaks. Sharing is an intentional act, not a default.
